Hungary only accepts Hungarian coronavirus tests, but why?
When the coronavirus test came out as positive in the case of István Hollik Hungarian politician, many others needed to go into two weeks of mandatory quarantine. One of them, Örs Farkas, is still spending the two weeks at him. He recently announced that he paid for his test and he also revealed why the Hungarian Government decided to introduce restrictions again.
ATV reported that if Farkas’s second test is negative, he can come out of quarantine. The Hungarian politician found himself in a sudden and unexpected situation when he was told that he might be infected. At the Saturday event, where most politicians gathered together and got the infection, he had a long conversation with Hollik. He stated that he paid for his coronavirus test. The politician added that those persons who might have been infected with the virus by accident did not have to pay for the test, but those who have contacted already infected persons had to.Â
Farkas said that there is no accredited system, as there is a wide range of variety of coronavirus tests. Each country tests differently. Counting and measuring the results also varies, and that is why Hungary only accepts Hungarian tests. Additionally, many tried to play out the system, which resulted in new restrictions.Â
The European Commission and Berlin were concerned about the border restrictions of Hungary. Still, Farkas stated that there are other countries with travel restrictions as well; in this case, the EU should not be surprised about the Hungarian decision. The politician finished his interview at ATV Television with responding to the conclusion of the Eötvös Lóránd University of Budapest where the directorship forbade offline classes and prepared to start the semester by preparing for distance learning. Farkas believes that education needs to begin offline again safely, and only classes should be quarantined if necessary.
He also stated that disinfectant equipment is being transported into Hungarian institutions every day, making the semester start possible in the country.

why? because some oligarch then has the monopoly on selling tests and he gets rich while everyone else is just worse off…
It is interesting that Gergely Röst, who advises the government on matters relating to Covid has in effect said that Hungarian testing is rubbish (see the article on this site ‘Hungarian Scientist warns…’. My own experience with (non covid) blood tests in Hungary is that to get them done quickly and efficiently, they have to be done privately.
How much is a test in Hungary, & is this fee for the government or is it carried out by a private company ?
